About Susan

Susan is an experienced therapist who adheres to the high ethical standards demanded by her professional association.

Susan has been providing counselling services in the Vancouver area for over 25 years. She is registered with the College of Psychologists of B.C. (# 01647).

Susan provides both in-depth, long term psychotherapy, often dealing with past trauma, childhood issues and longstanding problematic patterns of behavior, as well as, short term counselling which addresses specific current situational difficulties in one’s life. Susan’s approach is humanistic which recognizes the individual’s innate capacity for positive growth and healing. She creates an atmosphere of safety which facilitates self exploration and self awareness.

Helping you connect with yourself and others

In addition to individual counselling and psychotherapy, Susan sees couples, family members, and facilitates groups. Her approach is highly relational and she views “individual difficulties” as often arising from the larger social/relational/family context and maintained by the individual’s way of relating to others and the world around them.

Some of the problems Susan has experience working with are:

  • low self-esteem
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • life transitions
  • trauma
  • grief and loss
  • childhood abuse
  • workplace issues/burnout
  • communication issues
  • stress and panic attacks
  • dreams/nightmares
  • relationship problems/intimacy issues

Body-Mind Connection

Susan works from a holistic perspective and believes in the intimate connection between the body, emotions, and beliefs. A significant part of her postgraduate training has focused on the role of the body in healing, particularly in the area of stress and trauma.
